Defense Technology Museum

The Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung (WTS), also known as the Scientific Collection of Defense Engineering Specimens or the Defense Technology Museum, is a military technology museum in Koblenz, Germany. It covers 7,200 square meters, making it one of Germany’s largest technical collections.

Founded in 1962, the museum was originally part of the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) but now operates under the Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology, and Use of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw). It serves as a research and training resource, documenting the evolution of military engineering, weaponry, and defense systems.

Inside, visitors will find an extensive collection of vehicles, artillery, and weapons, with a notable focus on Second World War equipment. The displays offer insight into historical and modern military technology, including equipment used by the Bundeswehr.

Some of the notable exhibits:
- Second World War Artifacts – The museum features a range of German wartime equipment, including tanks, anti-aircraft guns, and infantry weapons used during the conflict.
- Military Vehicles – From early armored cars to modern Bundeswehr equipment, the collection includes transport and combat vehicles from different eras.
- Experimental and Prototype Weapons – Some exhibits showcase rare and experimental firearms, illustrating advancements in weapons development.
- Air Defense Systems – Visitors can explore radar-guided anti-aircraft systems and missile technology used in modern warfare.
- Cold War Technology – The museum presents defense equipment from the Cold War period, including strategic missile systems and surveillance tools.
