RAF Museum Cosford

Set in scenic Shropshire, Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has one of the largest aviation collections in the UK, with over 60 historic aircraft. Since early 2007 the cold war hall is open. There is a hall with experimental jet fighters. The collection of WW2 aircraft is also not to be missed. There are several rare aircraft on display, like a Spitfire mk 1, an Me 163 and an Me 410, a Mitshubishi Dinah and an Avro Lincoln.

Operation Chastise
The RAF Museum Cosford houses several artifacts related to Operation Chastise, including a fragment of the Möhne Dam and medals awarded to Wing Commander Guy Gibson, who led the raid.

Additionally, the RAF Museum London has an online exhibition dedicated to 617 Squadron and the Dams Raid, featuring archival materials such as Guy Gibson’s log book, reconnaissance photos, and diagrams of the bouncing bomb.
