Crash Location B-17G 42-31314 "Scorchy"

B-17G "Scorchy" crashed here on 11 February 1944 after sustaining heavy damage during a raid over Germany. The plane damaged the northeastern guardhouse of the Shoreham Aerodrome and No. 4 gun post. This damage is still visible.

Three crew members and an AA armourer on the ground received wounds due to the crash.
