Confederate Mound

The Confederate Mound, on Oak Woods Cemetery, is a mass grave where Confederate prisoners-of-war who died in Camp Douglas were reburied after the American Civil War (1861-1865). Originally they were buried in the City Cemetery.
The monument says that 6,000 soldiers were buried here and lists the names of more than 4,000 of them.
