Fort Adams

This fort was built from 1824 to 1857. During the Second World War, it was a trainingcenter. It was also equipped with anti aircraft-guns and served as the headquarters for all fortifications in Narragansett Bay.
The fort was also operational in the American Civil War and in World War I.
The predecessor of this fort, on the same location, was operational in the War of 1812.

Nowadays, the fort is a National Historic Landmark and it can be visited.
