Memorials Fort Saint James

War Memorial
The original memorial was erected in front of City Hall by members of Branch 268 Royal Canadian Legion and dedicated on 21 April 1979. A brass plaque mounted on a jade boulder reads:
IN REMEMBRANCE OF OUR FALLED COMRADES
LEST WE FORGET
BRANCH 268

Memorial to Rear Admiral Johan Pitka Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. George (KCMG)
Johan Pitka fought against Soviet Russia in the Estonian War of Independence and in World War Two. He was knighted by King George V for his services in the Baltic before and and after the Russian Revolution of 1917. In the interwar period he establish an Estonian settlement in Fort St. James British Columbia.
