The Naval Heritage Award, presented by the United States Navy Memorial, honors non-veterans who have made outstanding contributions in support of the Sea Services. Recipients uphold the values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, promoting naval history and tradition. The award is given annually alongside the Lone Sailor Award at the Lone Sailor Awards Dinner.
The two awards are physically the same. The Lone Sailor Award is inspired by the Lone Sailor Statue, a bronze sculpture created by Stanley Bleifeld for the United States Navy Memorial. The statue depicts a sailor in uniform, standing with a sailor's bag at his side, symbolizing the resilience and dedication of those who serve in the Sea Services.
