In addition to the medal, a plaque was also minted at Koninklijke Begeer. This medal was made
by M. Kutterink, in consultation with Prof. Vening Meinesz and the Ministry of Defence. It is
a round medal with a diameter of 50 millimeters. The obverse shows a globe,
showing the route of the K XVIII. In front of it is a fragment of the submarine. The
inscription reads: "TRIP HR: MS. K XVIII. DEN HELDER - SOERABAIA. 14 NOV. 1934 TO 11 JULY
1935". The reverse has the inscription: "COMMAND. / D.C.M. HETTERSCHIJ / OFFICERS: M.S. WYTEMA /
