De Rips, E 6630 (Holland) 1-15   With 8th RB rest and guard flank on the road to OPLOO, 7036. Daily patrols to the wood at 6827. Enemy of 47th Training Battalion occasionally engaged on other side of canal.
08.00 hours. In conjunction with 3rd British Division attack on OVERLOON and VENRAY. "C" Squadron with H Company establish over canal at 6927. Many mines but no enemy encountered.
16   10.00 hours. With Recce Troop covering leading Sappers Regiment, pass through the bridgehead. "B" Squadron at last light at MERSELA, 7427 after being much delayed by cratering. R.HQ at 739268 and "A" Squadron Group at 735262.
17   08.30 hours. "B" Squadron and "A" Squadron Groups held up by Bridge demolitions over BEEK south east of MERSELA and HAAG. "A" Squadron heavily mortared and "minnied" all day. "C" Squadron Group pushed south down track at 739251 and after engaging a platoon position south of feature 38.6 reach the main road at last light, engaging 4 x SPs in Pond Wood, 7323. Withdraw behind feature 38.6 for night harbour. "B" Squadron collect 12 PWs from 100 Cavalry Training Battalion.
18   10.00 hours. "B" Squadron Group passed through and via WEVERSLO, 7425 strike main DEURNE - VENRAY road at 753249 overrunning a Company position. After engaging another company position at HEIDE, 763243 the leading troop reached 772244 at last light. "A" Squadron reached HEIDE via 755244. Harboured in area HEIDE for night. 225 PWs of the 65th Training Battalion and HQ 269gh Training Regiment of 180th Training Division taken during the day.
2 x 75mm infantry guns, two x 75mm A/Tank guns and some transport destroyed.
19   08.00 hours. "A" Squadron Group moved through to the southern half of LEUNEN, 7824. "B" Squadron Group to the northern half. "C" Squadron Group on the stretch of road 7724.
R.HQ at 772244. End of operation.
20-31   Remain in these positions until the end of the month under considerable and daily shell, mortar and "Minnie" fire and aggressive patrolling which, on normal nights, penetrated into our positions. The enemy identified as 1st Battalion Grasmehl of 7th Para Division Erdmann.
