"On the 9th Feb 45, during operation VERITABLE, Lt Baker (now Capt. Baker) was acting as Regtl Survey Officer for the 7th CDN Med Regt RCA. The Regt was ordered to deploy in squares E7456 and 7556. This area was very close to the FDLs and under enemy observation. Despite heavy shelling, mortaring and small arms fire, this officer disregarding his personal safety completed the survey and enabled the Regt to deploy quickly and efficiently with few casualties.
By his great gallantry, coolness and determination, Lt Baker enabled the fire of the Regt to be brought down quickly in support of the infantry and helped materially in the successful conclusion of the operation. His continuously outstanding work was a marked contribution to the efficiency of the unit during the operations which led to the liberation of the Netherlands."
