    "Throughout operations in the NETHERLANDS Sergeant CORKUM was in command of a medium machine gun platoon of the Princess Louise Fusiliers. In that capacity he displayed outstanding leadership and ability, particularly in the operation at ARNHEM, OTTERLOO and DELFZIJL when his machine guns delivered devastating fire on the enemy at crucial stages of the battle. During the whole period of operations, despite adverse battle conditions, Sergeant CORKUM command his men in such a manner as to gain and hold their complete confidence and respect. Performing these duties as a non commissioned officer he discharged his responsibilities in a manner befitting an officer of commissioned rank."
