    Biography

    Gene Homer-Dixon grew up in a family of original homesteaders in the Coldstream area of British Columbia. He attended Vernon Preparatory and Shawnigan Lake Schools, and then worked as a fitness instructor in Vancouver. As a member of the Trois Rivere and the British Columbia's (Duke of Connaught's Own) Regiments Gene proudly served in the UK, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe during WWII.
    He returned from the war to teach physical education for sixteen years at the Vernon Preparatory School. After settling in Calgary in 1962 he worked for Gordon Pogue as a fitness instructor at Pogue's Health Club.
