    "Has distinguished himself by courageous action against the enemy by on the night of February 12/13, 1951 at HOENGSONG in KOREA, without regard for his own safety and under heavy enemy fire, provding fire support to the B. Company of the Dutch Detachment United Nations.
    Subsequently, by his active and courageous action in replacing heavily wounded gunners behind their guns and in driving his armored cars slowly, so that they could serve as cover for the retreating elements of B. Company, he made it possible for this company to fall back to the designated assembly area south of HOENGSONG with comparatively few losses."
