Biography

Alfred was born on November 4 1915 in Humboldt Saskatchewan, the son of Nicholas Britts (deceased) and Margaret Britts nee Schneider (both Americans) of Lake Lenore Saskatchewan.
He was married on October 21 1942 in Winnipeg with Burnice Vivian May Britts nee Parker of Winnipeg. His brothers were Anthony and Clements Britts and his half-brother was William Schneider. His sisters were Mrs. Annie Mamer, Mrs. Rosie Herwing, Mrs. Margaret Herwing and Mrs. Beatrice Corbeil and his half-sister was Agnes Schneider.
He was a hotel clerk and member of the Roman Catholic Church. He spoke English and some French. His sports were tennis, baseball, softball, table tennis and golf.

He enlisted on June 6 1941 in Regina Saskatchewan and he went thereafter on May 24 1943 overseas to the UK.

Alfred was killed in action on Friday July 21 1944 age 28 due to a crash at the Weustboerweg Reutum near Tubbergen before or after an attack on Bottrop in Germany.

The other fallen RCAF crew members were F/Sgt Vernon F. Dodds age 23 in grave 7, F/O Joseph J.R. Johnson age 30 in grave 7 and F/Lt James D. Virtue age 28 in grave 10.
The other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were Sgt Patrick N. Gilbert age 21 in grave 7, F/O Anthony G. McCarthy in grave 9 and Sgt Thomas Davenport age 21 in grave 8.
The other RCAF crew member F/Sgt Michael S. Stoyko, age 28, survived the crash and he could evade then. He survived the war.

He served with the 405 Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force.
