Biography

Albert was born on December 25 1921 in Stockholm Saskatchewan, the son of Stephen Potyok (address unknown) and Julia Makay nee MacKay (both Hungarians) of Winnipeg and later St Catharines Ontario.

He had six brothers and another brother died at birth and two sisters.

He was a student and member of the Roman Catholic Church. He spoke English and he could read well English, French and Latin.

His hobby was saving stamps and his sports were football, hockey and baseball.

He enlisted on December 18 1940 in Winnipeg and he went on November 3 1941 thereafter from Canada overseas to the UK.

Albert was killed in action on Saturday October 31 1942 age 20 due to a crash at De Polle near Steenwijkerwold, 6 km north of Steenwijk before or after an attack on Emden in Germany.
The other fallen RCAF crew member was F/Sgt Charles R. Patton age 23 in grave O-2 and the other fallen RAF Volunteer Reserve crew members were F/O William A. Tolmie age 21 in grave O-5 and Sgt John G. Cocks age 22 in grave O-6.
The fallen RNZAF crew member was Sgt John A. Fuller age 20 in grave O-4.

He served with the 150 (R.A.F.) Sqdn Royal Canadian Air Force
