"Distinguished himself through courageous conduct against the enemy by joining a key military intelligence group in the occupied Netherlands in January 1944, and as such conducting reconnaissance missions in Walcheren and South Beveland.
In particular, by not only providing accurate sketches of the coastal defenses, but also, under extremely difficult circumstances, despite good enemy camouflage, providing accurate information on the nature, number, and armament of the enemy troops stationed there, in an area in which an enemy division changed three times within a single year.
Furthermore, by continuing to provide highly accurate information in the period leading up to the liberation of Walcheren, even after his residence and house had to be evacuated due to the flooding of Walcheren.
By these actions, he rendered significant services to the Allied war effort and the Dutch Government."
