Jhr. Johannes Mattheus R. Sandberg, born November 13, 1899 in Batavia (Dutch East Indies); officer in the artillery of the K.N.I.L., 1933-1940 colonel in the general staff of the K.N.I.L.; adjutant in extraordinary service of Jhr. B.C. de Jonge (1875-1958), Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies; teacher Higher Military School; Died December 28, 1944 of acute stomach cancer in Melbourne (Australia). He was originally buried at Springvale War Cemetery, Melbourne, 2A-A-4. Reburied in Menteng Pulo in 1950. Father of a daughter and three sons
