“A Pomeranian Knocks Out Thirty Bunkers: Knight’s Cross for Oberleutnant Ludwig

The Führer has awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross to Oberleutnant Jürgen Ludwig, Kompanie commander in a Pionier-Bataillon.

Oberleutnant Ludwig… attacked an enemy battlegroup in the west Caucasus at the head of his rheinischen Pionier-Kompanie. He and his troops broke through three defensive lines of the desperately defending enemy, stormed 30 bunkers and annihilated the Soviet formation.”
