Biography

Sapper Albert Joseph Ancil, 756 Field Coy., Royal Engineers
Killed in action on 12-4-1945 near Zevenaar.
He was a driver-operator of a halftrack-truck and came under heavy fire of the enemy; he told one of this comrades that he was hit in the neck, got out of the truck and was killed outright by the next shell.
Buried in a field grave near Arnhemseweg at Zevenaar, later brought over to a temporary grave in the garden of a nunnery-school, Dorpsstraat 2 at Westervoort. Re-interned at the Uden War Cemetery on 28-8-1946.
