Biography

Sgt. Ronald Douglas Benning
Air Gunner RAF No. 9 Sqdn. RAF
He was a gunner in the crew of Lancaster bomber ED806 WS-L, which crashed at 11:34 p.m. on April 9, 1943, in Nistelrode (Kleinwijk, 400 meters behind the Uden-Nistelrode-Heesch road). The aircraft was shot down by Maj. Streib of I.NJG.1 from the German air base in Venlo. The entire crew was killed. The target of the mission was Duisburg (Germany).

F/O. E. Hesketh, Navigator RAF
Sgt. T. Hughes, Flt. Engr. RAF
Sgt. D.H. Mactier, W.Op./Air Gunner RAF
F/O A.F. Paramore, Pilot RAF
Sgt. R.D. Wood, Air Gunner RAF
They were buried on 12 April 1943 in the rectory garden of St. Peter's Church in Uden. Paramore was identified, the others as unknown.
In September 1946, they were reburied in the British War Cemetery in Uden. Paramore is in grave 4 E 1, the six others in a shared grave.
