Sgt. Stanley Arthur James Cook
Wireless Operator / Air Gunner RAF (VR)

He was the flight operator/air gunner of Lancaster bomber W5001 EM-J. The aircraft was returning from a bombing raid on Düsseldorf, Germany. It was shot down by a German night fighter of I./NJG 1 (Oberlt. Meurer) from Venlo air base and crashed near the Maas-Waal Canal at Neerbosch (near Dorpsstraat).
Six members of the eight-man crew were killed.
He was buried on 27 May 1943 in the Municipal War Cemetery in Uden, together with:
P. Falkingham, W.H. Hayller, G.E. Hopson, W.C. Reynolds, and A.W. White. They were the first, along with seven crew members from a Halifax bomber, to be buried in this cemetery.
W/O R.E.H. Hood-Morris and W.Cdr. T.A.B. Parselle were taken prisoner of war.
