Biography

Sgt. James William Blanchard
Flt. Engr. RAF (VR) No. 106 Sqdn. RAF
He was a flight engineer on the crew of a Lancaster bomber that crashed on the night of June 22, 1944, near Heerewaarden, along the road to Rossum.
The target of the flight was the Scholven-Buer oil installation in Gelsenkirchen (Germany).
The entire eight-man crew was killed. Seven of them were buried in Uden, and one (C.E. Scott) in Heerewaarden, now in Groesbeek.
