Biography

Warrant Officer Alexander Albert Braid RAAF
77 Sqdn. RAF

Bomb aimer of the Handley Page Halifax Mk. III MZ715 KN-Z, that crashed on 17-6-1944 at 04:10 hrs near the Bornegraafsweg between Dodewaard en Ochten. The bomber was on the way back from a bombardment mission to Sterkrage (Germany) and during an attack by a nightfighter of IBV./NJG 1 of the German airbase Venlo exploded in the air.
Six members of the crew perished . Four men were buried on 20-6-1944 in the Municipal War Cemetery at Uden and two were buried on 24-6-1944 on the General Cemetery of Dodewaard.

W.O. Braid enlisted RAAF (No. 4 Initial Training School, Victor Harbour) on 27-4-1941, arrived in the United Kingdom on 7-7-1943 and was mustered to 77 Squadron RAF on 25-4-1944.
