He was Air Gunner of the Handley Page Halifax B Mk.II DT705 MH-S, which crashed on 27-1-143 near the Vorleweg At Mill. The bomber was shot down by a night fighter of I./NJG 1 of the German airbase Venlo. The target of the mission was Düsseldorf, Germany.

The four were buried on 29-1-1943 in the garden of the parish priest of St. Petruschurch in Uden.
In September 1946 they were reburied in the Uden War Cemetery.
