The battalion was stationed in Heeswijk-Dinther and the surrounding area during the first weeks of October 1944. It carried out numerous patrol and reconnaissance missions. German army units were stationed nearby, including in Berlicum and Middelrode, and on the other side of the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal.
While carrying out such missions, casualties were incurred on both sides.
He was temporarily buried in a field grave (with 11 British casualties) near the farm of Widow G. Buys in Dinther.
He was reburied in the summer of 1946 at the British War Cemetery in Uden.
