Major Walter Frances David, Lord of Wraxall, 2nd Viscount
Coldstream Guards
He was killed in a Sherman tank on Saturday afternoon, September 23, 1944, near the former mission house ‘St. Willibrord’ on Veldmolen in Uden.
While pushing back German units from the southeast side of the village, he was hit by German anti-tank fire.
He was temporarily buried at the Municipal War Cemetery in Uden. From May 1946, this became the British War Cemetery.
A. Archer, W. Burton, and T.J. Carpenter were killed alongside him.
His father was killed in action in World War I in northern France on January 28, 1917, at the age of 37, with the rank of general in the Royal Scots Greys. He was the first viscount (viscount) of Long of Wraxhall.
