Biography

Sapper William McLaren
294 Field Coy, Royal Engineers
He was killed in action during Operation Quick Anger, the attack on/liberation of Arnhem and the Veluwe region from Westervoort/Duiven. He was killed while clearing a mined roadblock on the road from De Steeg to Ellecom. He was temporarily buried at IJsseloord in the garden of the convent, behind the Roman Catholic girls' school in Westervoort, along with twenty other fallen soldiers.
He was reburied on 28 August 1946 at the British War Cemetery in Uden.
