Biography

Sergeant, RAFVR, 156 Squadron RAF.

Sergeant Catley was one of the air gunners of the Vickers Wellington DV715 GT-V, which took off from RAF Alconbury at 23:55 on 30 May 1944. The aircraft, one of the Pathfinders, was shot down by a German night fighter on its way back after an attack on Cologne in Germany. The Wellington crashed in flames near Linde (Vorden), killing the entire five-man crew. Sergeant Catley and the rest of the crew are buried in the general cemetery in Vorden.
