Biography

Flight Sergeant, Wireless Operator. Airgunner
No. 106 Squadron RAF.

On 5 August 1941 in the evening, 65 Wellingtons and 33 Hampdens took off from various airfields towards Germany for a joint attack on targets at Mannheim and Ludwigshafen. From RAF Coningsby airfield, the Handley Page Hampden bomber AE120 ZN-D of the 106th squadron took off at 10.25pm. Alexander Philp Price served as wireless operator and airgunner on this aircraft. Shortly before the flight, he had been awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM)*. The Hampden was hit by anti-aircraft fire over Dinxperlo/Breedenbroek and crashed .
