Biography

Johannes Doerwald was a 16-years old gun-layer of a Flak position that shot down Avro Lancaster AJ-Z during the Dams Raid on 17 May 1943. Doerwald survived the war and was a local politician in Emmerich. He was part of the unveiling of the monument dedicated to the crew. Recipient of the Ehrenring der Stadt Emmerich for 30 years of uninterrupted political service.
