Biography

Obergefreiter (Corporal) Werner Nollau, born in Oschatz, was killed in action during "Operation Gisela," an intruder mission targeting British bomber airfields. After attacking a car driven by Observer Corps official Jack Perotti Kelway, his aircraft struck telegraph wires and crashed onto the car. Both the aircraft and car were destroyed, scattering debris widely. Kelway was the only Observer Corps member killed on duty during the war.
