Biography

July 3, 1923: Group Captain.

Alexander Shekleton was commander of No. 31 Service Flying Training School at RCAF Station Kingston, Ontario.

Previously served in the Royal Munster Fusiliers before joining the Royal Flying Corps. In 1919, he resigned his commission to accept a permanent role in the RAF.

After months of working to establish the RAF Fleet Air Arm Training Station in Kingston & Gananoque, Ontario, he collapsed and died of heart failure on 1 March 1941. His wife requested his cremation and that his ashes be scattered over Lake Ontario.

Husband of Irene Mary (née Watkins) Shekleton, son of Alexander Shekleton (Natal Police sub-inspector) and Margaret Jane (née Nunn) Shekleton.
