Biography

Born 22 July 1913 in Northern Germany, Friedrich-Wilhelm Dohse trained in criminal investigations before joining the SS.

In 1941, he was appointed to Karl Boemelburg’s General Staff in Paris and later sent to Bordeaux in 1942, where he oversaw Gestapo operations and led interrogations, arrests, and deportations. One notable victim, Claude Bonnier, a Resistance leader, died by suicide before Dohse could interrogate him. Others victims were four RM commandos who participated in Operation Frankton. All four were executed.

Fleeing Bordeaux on 28 August 1944, Dohse was captured in Denmark, imprisoned in Fort du Hâ, and tried in 1953 for war crimes. Despite charges including 2500 executions, he was sentenced to seven years but released early.

Dohse died in 1995 in Kiel, showing no remorse.
