Mohr’s Knight’s Cross recommendation reads as follows…

“Since the 01.04.1945 Major Mohr and his Regiment have been in the thick of the defensive combat on the western front [of Breslau]. After the arrival of fresh troops the enemy launched a full-scale attack against his sector with vastly numerically superior forces backed up by tanks and ground-attack aircraft. Their goal was to force a breakthrough to the city centre. They soon carved out a deep penetration, and its expansion would have resulted in the splintering of the western front.

Acting on his own initiative, Major Mohr proceeded to launch a ruthless attack against the enemy flank with a hastily assembled group of supply troops and Volkssturm. Here he fought in the foremost line in order to inspire his men to give their utmost, and in the end they managed to close the breach after a bitter struggle. Afterwards the newly won frontline was held successfully against fierce opposing counterattacks.

The self-stemming initiative and fearlessness that this exceptionally brave officer displayed here proved to be decisive factors that prevented the enemy from achieving their goal of splitting apart the northern and southern fronts.”
