Biography

Officer in the Royal Engineers Corps, active from 1905 to 1945. Played a key role in the construction of the Afsluitdijk casemates and led Royal Engineers operations during the mobilization of 1939–1940. Was taken prisoner of war in 1942, returned in 1945, and received an honorable discharge. That year he became commander of the Settlement Office in Amsterdam.

Died on June 23, 1948, buried at Zorgvlied.
