Biography

During WWII, Wilhelmina “Mies” Luijten was the commander of the group of couriers in the Dordrecht district. She came from a family that had strong ties to the Reformed resistance from the Wilhelmina Church in Dordrecht, also known as the resistance church. Her brothers Bertus and Wim were also active in the resistance in different ways.

Dressed as a nurse, she transported weapons, documents and ration cards, sometimes under her clothes or in the double bottom of a pram. She was known for her great courage and determination.
