Biography

Albert Harry Mildon, son of Albert George and Mary Ann Mildon; husband of Ivy P. Mildon from Moncton, New Brunswick. Flying Officer, navigator Handley Page Halifax HX279 ZL-Z RCAF 427 “Lion” Squadron.

Killed in action at the age of 32 on 18 March 1944 after his aircraft was shot down by a German night fighter near Trier during a mission from RAF Leeming to Frankfurt. Five of the seven crew members were killed in the crash. They were initially buried in Trier and later reburied in a communal grave at Choloy War Cemetery.

The inscription on his gravestone reads: “LOOKING FOR THAT BLESSED HOPE AND THE GLORIOUS RESURRECTION”.
