Citation:
"Distinguished himself through courageous conduct against the enemy by joining a military intelligence group in the occupied Netherlands in February 1944 and making outstanding contributions as such until its liberation in May 1945. In particular, after having fully grasped the military situation in Dordrecht before September 1944, by identifying the presence of an enemy army commander there at the end of October 1944 and by consistently providing accurate reports and sketches, contributing to the bombing of his staff and its communications center shortly thereafter. This contributed significantly to the defusing of the army command's action against an Allied offensive in North Brabant that immediately followed this bombing.

By this action, he rendered significant services to the Allied war effort and the Dutch government."
