Biography

Ralph Clare Gallaugher, son of Robert John and Clara Jackson Gallaugher. Gunner Handley Page Halifax HX279 ZL-Z RCAF 427 “Lion” Squadron.

Killed in action at the age of 27 on 18 March 1944 after his aircraft was shot down by a German night fighter near Trier during a mission from RAF Leeming to Frankfurt. Five of the seven crew members were killed in the crash. They were initially buried in Trier and later reburied in a communal grave at Choloy War Cemetery.
