Biography

Educated at Harrow, Sandhurst, and Cambridge, Sir Coats served in the Transjordan Frontier Force and WWII, earning the DSO. He became a Justice of the Peace for the North Riding, Yorkshire in 1960 and succeeded as 3rd Baronet Coates, of Helperby Hall, Helperby, co. York in 1971.
