Biography

Jan and his wife Geertruida (Truus) ran a dairy shop. He delivered milk and dairy products with a wooden cart.

On May 14th, 1940, the day of the bombing of Rotterdam, his department received orders to head for The Hague. In Schelluinen, however, they were surprised by a German air raid. Machine-gun fire hit soldiers and horses; three soldiers, including Jan, and a civilian were killed.
