Biography

22.04.1945: 'U 518' was sunk in the North Atlantic northwest of the Azores Islands by Hedgehog of the US destroyer escorts USS 'CARTER' (DE-112) and USS 'NEAL A. SCOTT' (DE-769).
The boat was caught by the radar of the USS 'CARTER', which was engaged in some hedgehog attacks with the USS 'NEAL A. SCOTT'.
Several heavy underwater detonations and large amounts of oil on the water surface marked the demise of 'U 518'. 43°26' North - 38°23' West
All hands lost (56 KIA)
