Biography

26.04.1944: KIA with all crew of U-488, a type XIV supply and replenishment U-boat ("Milchkuh")
In the early morning of 26 April 1944 at 4:42 a.m, U-488 was detected by the sonar of the destroyer FROST and was attacked by the escort INCH with depth charges. In the morning, floating oil gave way where the U-488 was and she was seen about 170 meters deep. For the last time, U-488 was then attacked with depth charges and she sank further down to the 5000 meters deep bottom of the Ocean with all 64 on board.
