Wilhelm Wenzlau went into service on 1st November 1934 in Riesa. Finally he became Kompanie Chef with Pionier-Bataillon 73 and the rank of Hauptmann. During a reconnaissance sweep in a stormboat, where the Manytsch-river comes out in the Don, near Manytschkaja, he became missing and was declared dead.
