Biography

Born as the son of a baker in a family with 5 children. Joined the Wehrmacht on 3 November 1937 and started his training as Bordfunker on 18 September 1939.

From 19 June 1940 he belonged to the 1. Zerstorerstaffel. On January 30, 1943, he and his commander Oberleutnant Klatt were shot down over Rovenki. Klatt survived but was badly injured, Rennefahrt did not.

In total he participated in 221 flights, of which 47 against the United Kingdom and 174 against the Soviet Union.
