“Leutnant Rupp had previously distinguished himself as a reconnaissance pilot during the Polish and French campaigns. After becoming a fighter pilot he proceeded to shoot down 50 aircraft in the Soviet Union. He furthermore also distinguished himself over the course of numerous ground attack sorties in support of the Heer.”
