Werner Thierfelder reached the rank of Hauptmann. He was killed on July 18th, 1944 when he was shot down with his Messerschmitt Me 262 as Führer, Erprobungskommando, Lechfeld.

Achieved a total of 27 aerial victories (most in the East), as well as 41 aircraft destroyed on the ground.
