Recommendation:
For having distinguished himself by courageous and tactful conduct on May 12th, 1940 on the Grebbeberg in connection with hostile action and thereby having served the interests of our Kingdom, being part of a small unit of Marechaussée (Military Police) by taking strong action to lead fleeing troops back in the direction of the enemy. In the night of May 12th to 13th he had again taken strong action against retreating troops and during this action he was killed by friendly fire.
