“I would like to request the award of the Knight’s Cross to the Iron Cross for Generalleutnant von Briesen. The 30. Division delivered invaluable results during the initiation of the battle along the Bzura, and their persistence throughout the battle was recognized in the Führer’s Reichstag speech of the 06.10.1939, during which the exemplary behaviour of the divisional commander was also praised. The fearless devotion to duty of Generalleutnant von Briesen and his return to the unit after creating the first formation warrants particular recognition and honour.
