    The following newspaper article describes why Crasemann received the Knight’s Cross…

    “During the Western campaign Oberstleutnant Crasemann and his Artillerie-Abteilung broke through the Maginot Line in a nocturnal battle, and along with his men he went on to capture 48 enemy tanks at Avennes. He was duly awarded the Iron Cross First and Second Class. In the more recent fighting in Africa he and his artillerymen defeated numerous armoured attacks in the foremost line, destroying 60 tanks via direct fire in this capacity. In this time he did not relinquish his command duties despite being wounded for the fourth time in the war.”
